Entry qualification | Undergraduate diploma (or higher) University degree¹ with a share of at least 60 credit points² in (business) informatics modules and/or in related areas (e.g. mathematics, statistics, natural sciences) regardless of the subject and relevant professional experience of at least six months and successfully completed the oral admissions test and current occupation³ 1) Graduated with a master’s or bachelor’s degree or with a diploma or state examination. Degrees from accredited bachelor’s courses at vocational academies are equivalent to university bachelor’s degrees. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / German. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. Overview
Capturing, analyzing and using big data sensibly
The increasing volume and variety of data available to companies today harbors huge opportunities. At the same time, however, it also presents them with the challenge of dealing with this growing capital in a target-oriented and innovative manner and of using the data for their own competitive advantage. The need for big data analysts in all areas of the economy is correspondingly high.
The Big Data & Business Analytics master’s program is aimed at (business) computer scientists and natural scientists such as mathematicians and statisticians, and builds on the knowledge and skills from the first degree. Graduates from other disciplines who have acquired the relevant technical know-how and skills through their professional experience are also addressed. Big data specialists span the arc from logic and quantitative methods through programming languages, frameworks and infrastructures to the interpretation and implementation of the results in company processes.
During your studies you will learn to analyze, interpret and evaluate large and heterogeneous amounts of data and to apply them in a business context. You will gain analytical skills in order to derive models for different tasks from amounts of data, which you can use in the context of management and business administration for predictions or optimization, for example in marketing, sales and business development. For example, it can be about the right time to launch a product or the development of a new business model, about improving the use of materials, resource planning or the development and further development of Big Data solutions. As a big data and business analyst, you specialize in technical and management tasks at the interface between IT and management. These could be positions as a big data manager or big data analyst, as a product manager for data integration, in marketing as a market data analyst or as a data scientist in research and development.
